Black and White Baby Picture Cards

| Black and White Cards – Fruits, Shapes | Baby Stimulation Cards | Baby vision |

From the moment they are born, babies are learning. Their little brains are busy developing millions of neural connections, and they soak in all the sights, sounds and sensations around them.

As a newborn, colours are not easily distinguishable and they see more in contrast (light, dark and shadows). Black and white visual stimulation cards or books are recommended for the first few months of baby’s life, so we thought we would prepare some of our own 🙂

She’s growing so fast, we thought we’d better get those newborn shots in! Mummy and daddy moved the couch, gathered all the presents people had given us and set up a home studio.

Featuring mummy’s wedding hair flower, the baby headband mummy made, baby’s nappy cake ribbon, and a bunch of wraps, blankets and other gifts from friends and family 🙂

We may not have done professional baby wraps, or used any fancy equipment, but mummy and daddy were very happy with how baby’s photos turned out!

We were also able to capture some finer details with a macro lens in black and white. Those little fingers and toes are just so cute!

Bump to Baby!

She’s here! And I have finally completed this timeline. May have put it together in the middle of baby’s first night at home – she sleeps the whole night long, feeds so well and has the cutest facial expressions! Our beloved daughter – so beautifully and wonderfully made! We love her so much!

2019 Psalm 27-1

One final piece for baby’s nursery 🙂
A reminder that the Lord her God will always be with her and for her ;
her light, her salvation, her strength and her life.

The Lord is my light and my salvation;
Whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the strength of my life;
Of whom shall I be afraid?

Well this isn’t quite a changemat clutch, but we are happy with how things have turned out! Had to do some problem solving, design alterations and hand-stitching but we got there in the end. Recycled the elastic is from a broken clipboard. Looking forward to welcoming bubs in a few months 🙂

Baby’s Floral Playmat

Baby's Floral Playmat 4.jpg

Having done a good amount of online window shopping, I decided I was ready to try making our own baby playmat. I really liked the circular designs, and practicality of having a wipeable backing (just in case of spills!).

Material was all from Spotlight (the remnant bin has some great stuff) – Cloud cushion from Kmart (just for decoration since baby is not here yet :P).

Next project: to make a portable change-mat clutch!

There are lots of different flowers in the world and we thought baby might like to learn about some of them, along with their numbers.

The Sturt’s Desert Pea was chosen as South Australia’s floral emblem on 23 November 1961.

The Bottlebrush is an Australian native evergreen tree, named after the shape of its distinctive flowers.

Sunflowers have a trait which causes them to face the sun at all times (heliotropism).

Waratahs are able to survive fires due to dominant buds in their lignotuber, a woody swelling at their base.

Poppies were unable to grow on war fields for four seasons after WW1, but subsequently proliferated over the battlefields of France and Belgium, making them a symbol of remembrance for those who died in the war.

The Calla Lily has poisonous roots and is native to South Africa, where it is actually considered a weed.

Just making a start on the nursery before the New Year begins – it is incredible to think about all the different, unique, and interesting creatures that God has made! Some of the animals might be a little unusual… so here are some fun facts 🙂

Alligators can be distinguished from crocodiles in a few ways. They have a wider, more U-shaped snout, are mainly found in areas of the United States and China whereas crocodiles are found worldwide, and prefer a freshwater habitat while crocodiles prefer saltwater.

The Jellyfish has a mouth that both takes in food, excretes waste and expels jets of water to propel it forward in the water.

Meerkats are social creatures that live in groups from 20-50. There is an alpha couple who lead the group, with the other meerkats functioning as babysitters and watchguards.

The Quokka is a cat-sized marsupial related to wallabies and kangaroos. They live on islands off the Western Australian coast, and are famous for their #quokkaselfies.

The X-ray Tetra can be found in the Amazon and has translucent skin which allows their bones to be visible. One part of their bony structure is the Weberian apparatus which contributes to their sense of hearing.
